Last updated 2026-3-27
1. Overview
Hogapay is a contribution management platform that facilitates voluntary donations and gifts between users. As such, contributions made through the platform are generally non-refundable, except in specific situations outlined in this policy.
2. Nature of Contributions
All contributions made through Hogapay are:
- voluntary
- made as donations or gifts
- non-refundable by default
- made with no expectation of returns, rewards, or financial gain
Contributors are responsible for reviewing jar details before making a contribution.
3. Refund Eligibility
Refunds may be processed under the following conditions:
a. Inactive Jars
If a jar remains inactive for a continuous period of 14 days (i.e., no new contributions or activity):
- Hogapay will notify the organizer to withdraw available funds
- Notifications will be sent via push notifications and email during the inactivity period (e.g., around day 7, day 12, and a final notice before refund processing)
- If the organizer does not take action, Hogapay may initiate refunds for any remaining balance in the jar
Hogapay reserves the right to automatically refund contributions to the original contributors after reasonable notice has been provided.
b. Failed or Duplicate Transactions
Refunds may be issued where:
- a payment fails but funds are deducted
- duplicate payments occur due to system or processing errors
Such cases will be reviewed and resolved accordingly.
c. Technical Errors
Refunds may be considered if:
- a system error results in incorrect transaction processing
- funds are incorrectly recorded, allocated, or displayed
4. Refund Process
- Refunds will be made to the original payment method where possible
- For mobile money or unavailable channels, a reasonable alternative method may be used
- Processing timelines depend on third-party payment providers and may vary
Hogapay will make reasonable efforts to process refunds promptly but does not guarantee specific timelines.
5. Organizer Responsibilities
Organizers are responsible for:
- withdrawing funds in a timely manner
- clearly stating the purpose of the jar
- ensuring that all information shared with contributors is accurate
Hogapay is not responsible for how funds are used once withdrawn by the organizer.
6. Disputes Between Users
Hogapay does not mediate or resolve disputes between:
- organizers
- collectors
- contributors
This includes disputes related to:
- use or misuse of funds
- expectations of contributions
- delivery of goods, services, or outcomes
Users are encouraged to resolve disputes directly between themselves.
7. Misuse & Fraud

- fraudulent activity
- misleading or deceptive jars
- impersonation or abuse of the platform
We reserve the right to:
- suspend or terminate user accounts

8. Limitations of Liability
Hogapay is not liable for:
